Role Summary/Purpose

The Global Ops TAX & VAT Teams are in charge to prepare, review & submit income tax, VAT, EC Sales and Purchase listing & associated filings to all GE businesses across Europe. This covers TAX and VAT services to 800+ legal entities operated by GE affiliates across 31 countries in Europe in contact with GE Business tax and VAT leaders, Corporate tax and VAT leaders, local & regional business controllership & finance teams.

Essential Responsibilities

Services are governed by the GE S&T Enterprise Standards and GE MAP 020.
30. Service scope includes preparing, reviewing TAX and VAT account reconciliations, TAX and VAT returns and includes submitting the returns & associated filings, external & internal audit support and advisory activities.

  • Coordinate external TAX & VAT audits from Global Operations perspective.
  • Act as a Lead Audit Coordinator in any audit that need coordination.
  • Work with the any GO teams or Business teams or TAX & VAT country or regional teams or external parties, Business TAX & VAT teams to ensure that the answers are collected and properly presented to the auditors.
  • Ensure that the answers & audit ready documents are provided to the auditors and keep the stakeholders, e.g. GO TAX & VAT leaders and managers, Business TAX & VAT and controllership up to date about the status of the audit.
  • Work with TAX & VAT managers in the business at Global Operations or external party to understand the audit strategy and priorities.
  • Ensure that the audit queries are tracked and answered within the deadline, they are treated as high priority. Own the W2W audit tracking process.
  • Drive the collection of the information and documentation for the audit, do a first check if needed.
  • Act as main point of contact to coordinate the documentation collection, analysis & review prior it is handed over to the external auditors.
  • Follow up queries with the owners, setting up calls & meetings with the relevant stakeholders, ensure that the internal & external deadlines are met.
  • Support local corporate or business TAX & VAT teams in any communication towards the Tax Authorities.
  • Support corporate and business TAX & VAT teams to manage risk in audits and to protect GE’s reputation.
  • Track and drive corrections that should be made post audit.
  • Work with Corporate and Business and GO TAX & VAT to ensure that the representation of the legal entities in audits are properly documented.
  • Ensure that an up-to-date record is kept for audits carried out, ongoing and expected across Europe.
  • Work with Corporate & Business & GO TAX & VAT or process teams to fix issues come up in audits and drive execution to resolve them.
  • Establish close linkage and alignment with GO internal audit team, Corporate and Business TAX & VAT teams and develop an internal TAX & VAT audit program to improve quality. Work with the GO TAX & VAT teams and drive execution per the audit program.
  • Coordinate CAS audits from TAX & VAT functional perspective. Work with GO TAX & VAT teams or any other functions to ensure that the queries are answered.
  • Proactively address gaps in process standards, training and documentation, identify and recommend improvement ideas for productivity & simplification of integrations processes.
  • Retain an external focus outside immediate project and within shared services to remain current on industry trends.
  • Support CIT & VAT SME Leader for Europe in any additional queries as needed

  • Qualifications/Requirements

  • Experience in CIT & VAT compliance processes.
  • Experience in coordinating Tax Authority’s audits.
  • Experience in supporting & managing external & internal TAX & VAT audits.
  • Excellent project management skills. Candidate must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills, including fluency in English.
  • Strong ownership & proven track record of execution.
  • Strong analytical and strong problem solving skills.
  • Anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve, creates actionable operational plans.
  • Finance shared services experience, or as a minimum a solid understanding of shared services dynamics.
